Our sector
A pivotal sector for energy and digital transitions :
The electronics sector includes manufacturers of components, electronic test, measurement and production equipment, subcontracting, industrial distribution as well as companies developing embedded systems and software. A dense fabric of laboratories, schools and universities feed into this sector, in fields of expertise ranging from advanced materials for nanoelectronics and optoelectronics to the design and development of complex tools to assist in the design of circuits, embedded software and systems.
Spanning all industrial activities and vital for the success of the digital revolution and French energy transition, the electronics industry is the true industrial foundation of an increasingly intelligent and connected world.
It is at the heart of French industrial dynamic and represents an important driver of industrial competitiveness. It is also one of the keystones of national strategic and economic sovereignty, ensuring our technological independence.
Role and missions of the Sector Strategy Committee :
The mission of the ‘Electronics Industry’ SSC is to identify links between the sector’s key challenges and reciprocal commitments by the State, regions and manufacturers, to put forward proposals for practical actions and to monitor their implementation.
The aim of the SSC’s six ‘Electronics industries’ drivers, endorsed by the National Industry Council (CNI) and formalised in the sector’s strategic contract, is to enhance performance of the electronics industry and, given its pervasive nature, to drive all of French industry towards modernisation.
